orders of business:

1. I'm behind on my flist already /o\ This... is probably something I should have put in my intro post: hi, new friends! I read every post, but sometimes I don't reply to stuff until days and days later, if at all. /o\/o\/o\

2. I've been making a lot of new year's resolutions, and a lot of plans -- one of said resolutions is to make myself academically awesome before I go back to school, and one of said plans is a list of reading material I want to get through before I start classes this summer. So! Anyone have any recs for anything good that pertains to archaeology, history (especially ancient history, but medieval is also good, along with anything related to agriculture or science), folklore, mythology, orrrr just any non-fiction that you enjoyed? :D? :D?

3. More Yuletide (and Yuletide Madness!) recs:

One Last Lick (Machete, Luz/Sartana) -- I got a fic during Yuletide Madness this year! :DDDD And it is great! Short and sweet and really, really sexy. *_____*

crawling in the dark (The Fast and the Furious, Dom/Letty) -- I love Letty, and I always want more of her in fic; this focuses on her growing up and her friendship with Mia and her relationship with Dom, and it hurts a little, and I love it.

Pinning It (The Fast and the Furious) -- AU where Dom is the agent. I want so much more. *____*

nobody expects Michael Palin (Doctor Who RPF) -- pretty much a story about Matt Smith falling over. I'm not a visual person, but this was one of the easiest things in the world to visualize. :D

You've Probably Never Heard Of Us (Doctor Who RPF, Arthur/Karen/Matt) -- easy, believable, and adorable. :D

The Adventure of the Watson League (Hark! A Vagrant) -- a gathering of Watsons!

open problem (Push) -- I love time travel stories. This isn't a time travel story, but it does have a precog using their visions to shape the future and communicate with people in the future, which hits a lot of my time-travel-related buttons.

Monday's Child (Push, Nick/Cassie) -- another type of story I like is "them against the world," especially when said people are on the run, and this is precisely that.

those are pearls (Leonard Cohen's 'Suzanne') -- one of my favourite songs ever (one of my childhood ambitions was to be Suzanne) and this really does it justice. The language is gorgeous to the point where if the Yuletide reveals go up and it turns out it to be written by Leonard Cohen, my reaction would be less "WAIT WHAT" and more "...huh, yeah!"

On the Street, Under the Stars (Hanna, Hanna/Sophie) -- gorgeous and gritty, set years after the movie.

The Changeling (Hanna) -- this movie + folklore + YES!

in this world of hope and risk (Hanna, Hanna/Sophie) -- Hanna finding Sophie after the movie.

Blue Angel (Maltese Falcon) -- I kept an eye on this fandom when the list of requests/letters went up, and I was hoping someone would include Effie in a fic. And they did! And it was great! :D

Sic Transit Gloria Mundi (Marvel 1602, Steve/Tony) -- I uh haven't actually read 1602 yet /o\ so this was confusing, but so well-written and interesting.

Stones (Skins, Cassie/Sid) -- I'm not generally a Cassie/Sid fan, but the focus of this is Cassie in Scotland, and it's just really lovely, wow. (See what I did there? But it IS.)

What Normal People Do (Community, Troy/Annie/Abed) -- I really love the way these three work together.

crystal bones and filigree (Hanna, Hanna/Sophie) -- short and sweet and very pretty.

OCTOPUS TALKING IN ALL CAPS -- EXACTLY WHAT IT SOUNDS LIKE. THERE ARE MORE OCTOPUS STOLE MY CAMERA STORIES OUT THERE AND I CANNOT WAIT TO READ THEM ALL AFTER THIS :DDDD

I've yet to read most of the Avengers-related or Community stuff, since I was mostly focusing on all the smallest fandoms, so I've got a lot of reading left to do and I AM EXCITED. :DDDDD

4. Seeing the new Sherlock Holmes tomorrow with my bff [livejournal.com profile] amber_crystal! :DDDDD

5. I ordered the first seasons of Parks and Rec (which I've never seen, but thanks to Tumblr I quote it all the time and also I lead a Ron Swanson appreciation life) and Pushing Daisies (show of my heart!) tomorrow, and I think I'm going to try to watch all of Game of Thrones before they get here (which should be the first or second week of January). It's quite possible that some of my new year's resolutions involve watching a lot of TV. :D: Mostly, there's a lot of things I started and never finished, despite liking, and also a lot of things I've been meaning to watch but never got around to it. This year is the year I watch ALL THE THINGS.

6. ♥

7. eta Almost forgot -- I got a migraine and I've been trying to trace a possible trigger and I've got seriously nothing, and if it is actually the LJ issue that's been causing other people problems, oh my god LJ we are seriously done professionally.
